Dicey Business Review

My boycott of TVB was put on hold due to DB. Its the must watch series for me.

Story

Great plot with many twists and interesting characters.

Bobby

Cute and alittle hot-headed he makes the perfect protagonist. You know how sometimes the protagonist is so perfect he seems unrealistic, well in here Bobby isn't anywhere near perfect, but with his good heart and determination he turns his life around.

Jessica

She's so funny and nice, but I don't like her for betraying Bobby. I feel like so many people hurt Bobby, but he ends up forgiving all of them. Perhaps he's too nice. And I don't like her at the beginning when she was so obsessed with Micheal. She seemed desperate and needy.

Michael

How evil. He's like a cunning plotting evil who would do anything to reach his goal. But I guess he still has a heart seeing how hard he tried to save that other dude (forgot his name).

Bosco

At first Bosco was funny and cute as the unsocial nerd, but after he got rich and became successful he turned cocky and mean. I hate that he was so cruel to Bobby, using Bobby's love for him to help Michael.

Tavia

Shallow and superficial, but she still has a good heart. Tavia did a great job as usual. I still like her as the tomboy in Yummy Yummy.

Chemistry

Bobby and Jess

They're so hilarious and cute, but Bobby's still too good for her.

Michael and Jess

I'm not convinced he ever loved her, but she sure loved him. Cheating on Bobby...how mean.

Bosco and Bobby

I was laughing so hard when Bosco thought Bobby was gay. And he actually thought he might be gay himself.

Bosco and Tavia

They're so compatible. I can't wait to see them in Heart of Greed.

Overall

Dicey's a great series. I love everything about it other than the fact that Bobby gets hurt too much. But the plot is interesting and the relationship between the characters are good too. But the poster's kinda disappointing for the series.

One word, disappointed. I heard about Samuel being evil and Shirley playing a mute and was quite interested, but Kate really ruined everything for me. The plot sucked in the beginning, got alittle better in the middle, and the end was ok.

Bosco

I love Bosco's character. He's so smart and kind and funny. I especially love how he cares for his family. Eventhough he fights with Kingdom alot its tough love and they reconciliate for Shirley. They're so funny together.

Samuel

I like Samuel and I'm so sad to see him leave TVB. He was ok in here. His character was evil, but I always believed there was a reason behind it, not just greed. I guess I should pay more attention to the title.

Kate

Kate got on my nerves the whole time. Her crying was not convincing and her expressions were really plain. I don't think she's pretty at all. Don't know why TVB is promoting her so much. And now I have to put up with her in Brink of Law. blehh.

Shirley

Next to Kate, Shirley shined. She was adorable and she pulled off the whole mute thing really well. I love her crying scenes and her character is the best. She's so kind-hearted and sweet. I really wanted her to talk again.

Chemistry

Bosco and Kate

I don't know what Bosco sees in Kate. At the beginning she was so needy and insane, how could he love her?

Sam and Kate

I actually like them better than Bosco and Kate eventhough Sam doesn't love Kate. I really thought for a a teeny tiny little second that Sam loved Kate.

Bosco and Shirley

I was hoping with all my heart that Bosco would pick Shirley, but my heart broke for her. I cried when Shirley made a paper airplane and wished for everyone's happiness. I still love how he always cares for her and she for him.

Bosco, Shirley, and Kingdom

A close, but rather strange family. I love the beginning story where Bosco and Shirley get kidnapped and rescued by Kingdom. I think that's the best part of the series, to see how they came to love eachother.

I think the plot is interesting, but too messy. If you take out some parts and replace some actors *cough*kate*cough* it could've been a really good series, but....I repeat, disappointed.

Glittering Days Review

Liza

Stubborn, hot headed, and tough, she only wants the best for her son. Liza's very funny and always delivers.

Roger

I wish he did his own singing, but lip syncing is cool too. Roger's so funny.

Charmaine

Charmaine is like the highlight of the show. From her first appearance with the braids and clogs to her singing performance. I think Charmaine did a good job in this role, the singin and all.

Songs

My absolute favorite is Susanna Kwan's "Only Live a Day For You", I think that's what its called. I cried when I saw it, then rewind, watched it again and cried some more. Charm's really improved , I love all of her songs. I also like the English songs Chris sings, buy I can't help laughing at his accent. His singing's not bad, but I just find it hilarious. I think the hair adds to the humor.

I really don't get the point of this series. Is it "Looks don't matter" or "Myolie is a good cryer and she should've won Best Actress"?

I feel bad for her not winning Best Actress after she gained so much weight and did really well in here. Good actress, horrible series. Didn't she read the script before signing up?

Andy Hui

I never seen him before, but I think he's ok.

Claire Yui

I liked that TVB didn't make her too evil. She was just the right amount of evil, fair but just alittle selfish.

Selena Li

Selena's really improved. I like her more and more after FTF.

Kenneth Ma

I love his faithfulness and honesty. He's like the perfect guy. I felt so bad for him. Its OK Ken, I'll marry you...Oh wait, I have to marry Bill.

Chemistry

Myolie and Andy - They were cute during Andy's memory loss, but later it just got boring.

Selena and Jack - Somehow I always end up liking the subplot more than the main plot. They're so cute!!

Claire and Andy - I personally think they are cuter than Myolie and Andy.

Myolie and her Dad - They actually look like father and daughter. I love that scene where Myolie's about to marry Kenneth and they're sitting on the balcony crying. It was so sweet.

Story

How many twists and turns can this story have? First he loves her then he doesn't then he does then they fight and somehow they end up together. It just got really ugly after the memory loss thing. Alittle too much.

I feel so bad. I've been MIA for how long now? Well let me tell you what happened.

My computer got this stupid virus and I almost lost all of my precious files. Took so long for my brother to fix it. Then I just got this crazy obsession for Tokio Hotel, which I'll explain another time, and spent like the last 2 or 3 months liking doing nothing but Tokio Hotel stuff. And I was pretty disappointed with TVB after Price of Greed so I didn't watch any TVB series for like a month or so.

But now I'm back and chicken pecking (broke my finger playing tetherball so I'm handicapped) my way to more updates. Currently working on reviews and stuff so bear with me.

Review: Land of Wealth

Synopsis:

Chai Bak Chuen (Moses Chan Ho) is a descendent of a government official. His family was framed and sentenced to beheading, but luckily, he managed to survive and escape. He becomes the disciple of Kiu Boon Yip (John Chiang Dai Wai), the boss of Shanxi's first bank, Ding Fung Sing.

Chuen realizes that Ba Ba Ha Yi Ko Wai (Sonija Kwok Sin Nei) is a foreigner because she feels inferior, so doesn't dare to show her love. Meanwhile, the Kiu's second young mistress, Kiu Jun (Tavia Yeung Yi) and the military aircraft official, Cheung Sung Man (Steven Ma Chun Wai) love each other. However, the couple's relationship, because Man has to impartially investigate Ding Fung Sing, meets conflicts.

On one occasion, Ding Fung Sing suffers from big storekeeper Cho Yu Tai's (Lau Dan) frame, almost causing them to go out of business. The imperial court doesn't end harsh laws and furthermore, it asks Ding Fung Sing to keep inflating money. Before Yip's death, he hands Ding Fung Sing to Chuen, who time and time again helped him to overcome difficulties. The merchant fights with wealth, government officials fight still with power. How can Chuen lead Ding Fung Sing in facing the corrupt late Qing government?

The Good
Costumes!!! - Like I said in my First Impressions, the costumes are really beatiful. I loved Tavia's costume from the start, and later on, when they get rich, Moses and Sonija has a nice wardrobe too. I also like Sonija's Mongolian outfit. I think, Steven just looks ok in his clothes. And Moses's hat really fits him.

Themesongs - When I first heard the themesong, I thought Moses sang it, but when I downloaded it, I found it was Eason Chan. He's pretty good. The beat of the song and everything really fits with the series. The subsong by Moses is nice too, but I couldn't find the full version of it. They don't play it that much.

The Ending clip - I really liked that they played the dramatic and important clips from the series at the end. Paired with the subsong, it makes me sad to see it end.

The Bad
Too Draggy - It was quite draggy in the beginning, but when John Chiang died, the story picked up more pace, and it got interesting.

Story - It was ok, but nothing special.

Formalness - Everyone was so nice and formal. They did have some funny parts, but it was that funny.

Chemistry
Moses and Sonija - They do look quite good together, but I thought they're love story lacked drama. I mean, having your girlfriend marry your boss is quite dramatic, but some how they made it boring.

Steven and Tavia - Sweet, but tragic. Somehow, I just feel that perhaps they're love isn't strong enough to with stand challenges and Steven loves Tavia more.

Tavia and Moses - Even though they didn't love eachother when they married, I believe Tavia fell in love with Moses. I'm not sure, but it sure seemed like it when she was dying in his arms. That was sad.

C it or Skip it?
Its an ok series, but if you want something light-hearted and funny, definitely skip it. If your interested in government and banking(yeah right) you should watch it. Tavia fans will like this one, she's so pretty in here. I don't like Moses or Steven in here. Sonija is just ok.

A Look Back at 2006

Happy New Year's Eve!! 2006 sure went by fast, alot of things have happened in TVB. 2007 is approaching fast, lets look at what happened in 2006.

Return to TVB

This year, alot of stars have comeback to TVB. Ada Choi, Maggie Siu. and Kevin Cheng have started filming again. Ada did Dance of Passion, but it was suprisingly unsuccessful, although the audience loved her performance, now Ada is starring in Exquisite Beauty set to release in 07. Maggie Siu was also in DOP, and she also did CIB Files, even though it was quite forgettable, her fans were glad to see her back and to prove that she's still got it. Kevin had a very good year, winning the Best Actor at TVB Anniversary, and having 2 successful series. Trimming Success was first warehoused, but when it aired, it was a hit, and Under the Canopy of Love did well too.

Scandals

The HK Press have really gone far this year with photos of Gillian Chung changing. This made the publice outraged and people started petitions and the artistes spoke out about it. Alot of crazy things happened, Yumiko Cheng's over exposure and Ella Koon getting harrassed by a fan onstage. The reporters went sure had a good year, creating rumors of rivalry between the stars, and celebrity hook-ups and break-ups, along with Sammul Chan's recent "Betrayal" controversy. It really shows the audience, that maybe being famous isn't so great.

TVB 39th Anniversary

The TVB Anniversary Awards was shocking to all, as Kevin Cheng won Best Actor, and Charmaine Sheh grabbed Favorite Female Character and Best Actress, leaving Myolie Wu empty handed. Linda Chung won Most Improved Actress, Kenneth Ma received Most Improved Actor, Shirley Yeung got Best Supporting Actress, Kenny Wong Best Supporting Actor, Steven Ma won Favorite Male Character, and LFD got Best Series. Which are deserving, which aren't are left for the fans to decided for themselves.

The Higher You Fly, The Harder You Fall

Much hyped series like Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion and Maiden's Vow all proved to be disappointments in ratings. Perhaps the most disappointing of all is Dance of Passion, the so-called sequel to the very successful War and Beauty, with ratings as low as the 20's. While warehoused series like Trimming Success was a big hit when it was aired.

La Femme Desperado

Lets not forget the biggest series of the year. LFD received the highest ratings and brought its cast, Melissa Ng, Sheren Tang, Raymond Lam, and Micheal Tse, much fame and attention. The series focuses on hardships of women, with its charming dialogue and interesting story line, LFD truly deserves the Best Series Award at the 39th TVB Anniversary.

Last month, four middle-aged men cooked two dogs that they had raised themeselves and were arrested by the police. The day before, they were taken to court where the admitted that they had killed the dogs for food and were sentenced to 30 days in jail, becoming the first people in Hong Kong to be charged with the law for cats and dogs since its establishment half a century ago.

Many artists in the entertainment industry have dogs or cats as pets and after this incident was published in a magazine yesterday, many artists were appalled. Twins, Gigi Fu, Leila Tong and others all criticised that the sentence of 30 days is too light and that the sentence should be harsher in order to teach them a lesson. Eunis Chan voiced that the people got the punishment they deserved, while Raymond Lam said that this incident made him fearful and even described it as being, "no different than eating human".

Raymond Lam:
Their punishment should be having to eat as vegetarian for the rest of their lives. "When I saw how these people treated the dogs in the news, I felt scared. They raised the dogs themeselves, how could they eat them? Eating dog meat is no different to eating human, because dogs are the most loyal friends to humans, they have a conscience, killing a dog is no different to murdering a human, so I think being imprisoned for only one month is too light. The people who killed the dogs should also have to eat as vegetarians for the rest of their lives.

My Thoughts:
Talk about evil! I totally agree with Raymond. They should become vegetarians while they're in jail for the rest of thier lives. Ok, maybe a little harsh. How about 3 years in jail and vegan for life.

The thing I don't get is, dogs and cats are animals, right, and people have to go to jail for killing and eating them, but no one goes to jail for eating cows or pigs or chickens. They're animals too. I mean sure, dogs and cats are closer to us and it seems like they're almost human, but they're still animals. It just doesn't seem fair that we treat dogs and cats and other pets better than the other animals.

Story - I was looking forward to this series due to the nice cast and the pretty setting. The story, I'm not so excited about. The banking and government stuff is just really boring, but we'll see how it turns out.

Costumes - I'm very very impressed with the costumes. TVB sure pulled out all the fur for this series. I hope its not real fur though. Fur is murder. I like Tavia's and Claire's the best out of all the costumes. The guy's costumes are nice too, I find the furry hats warm and comfy looking.

Chemistry - I know for sure Steven and Tavia are supposed to be together. They like fell in love at first sight and they are so made for eachother. They're both nice and smart, plus they look good together. Moses and Sonija are also a pair, but Sonija was heartbroken before and she's afraid of getting hurt again.

Characters
Steven Ma - Steven's a really smart and polite gentlemen. He's sort of like Sheung Chi in Safe Guards, and I loved Sheung Chi.

Moses Chan - This is a serious hardworking Moses. He's very loyal. It seems like he's hiding his past. I prefer the funny and laid-back Moses better, but this Moses is ok.

Sonija - She is a nice girl who just wants the best for her little brother. But she also has a broken heart and I know she's afraid of getting hurt again. There's nothing that really stands out about Sonija.

Tavia - As the daughter of a rich and well known banker, Tavia is supposed to be kind and courteous, and that's what she's like. I think she's very pretty in this series.

Lau Dan - Wow, so evil. Never seen him as a villian before. He's good.

Predictions - I'm not really interested in the business stuff, but I have my love-story predictions. In the trailer it has Moses and Tavia having a baby together...I think. And probably because Steven and her fought when Steven was investigating her father's bank. Then she has to marry Moses in order for him to become the new bank owner. I also saw Sonija marry somebody else. Not sure who though.

Overall Thoughts - Its going pretty well, so far, but I think all the polite and wise-talk is quite confusing. It makes it really boring too, no wonder Land of Wealth got low ratings. I'm going to keep watching it for the cast.

Cast: Raymond Lam, Frankie Lam, Tavia Yeung, and Selena Li

Story:
The Good and Evil sides are always at odds, and as the Golden Seal Battle(or watever its called) approaches, the two sides are plotting who should fight for them. The Evil side is cheating by killing all the candidates of the Good. Li Po Yee (Frankie), a fortune teller who doesn't interfere with the WuXia world, gets caught in the middle. He chooses to fight for the good and recruits some new candidates. He meets Lai Yeuk Yee (Raymond), a charming back doctor, and Tavia's character (I totally forgot her name), a member of the 4 Flying Fish of Flying Fish Village. They join forces to recruit 5 new Kung Fu experts to fight in the Golden Seal Battle.

The Good
Raymond - Lai Yeuk Yee is very charming and carefree at the beginning. He just does whatever he wants and he's really temperamental. But I love how he can do anything for the one he loves even becoming evil and killing everyone. I like Ray's acting in here, especially when he cries and when he turns evil. Plus, I actually like his white hairstyle. Ray with black hair looks ok, but I don't like the thing on top of his head. I also like his outfit with the hoodie and everything.

Selena - She improved much, and I found her very pretty in here.

The Bad
Frankie - I thought his facial expressions were very plain, and boring, but I like the unpredictable Li Po Yee.

The ending - It gets so messy and weird. All of a sudden Ray's back to normal and Tavia becomes the ruler of both worlds.

Chemistry
Ray and Selena - I like the beginning when they were teasing/flirting. So cute. Then it got sweet, when Ray found out he had the disease and they spent most of their time together. I'm so glad Ray didn't die and they got a happy ending. I like Selena's little kid too. There was also a sweet scene with Ray and Selena, but I they cut it out.

Derek and Nancy - Their Romeo & Juliet love story was so sweet. One is an assasin and the other is daughter of the leader of the Good side. Still, they would do anything to be together.

Frankie and Tavia - I loved their fighting at the beginning, but the end I didn't get. Even if Tavia is the new ruler of the Evil side, why can't they be together. Just get together anyways. What's all the fuss about.

Themesongs - I like the ending theme duet with Tavia and Frankie. The theme by Ray is kind of fast, but its ok. I just wish TVB would air in HK, so I can get the full version of the themesongs.

Overall Thoughts
Face to Fate was really good at the beginning, but you should fast forward over the last part, especially the Golden Seal Battle. You'll love Ray and Selena in here.

As you all should know, I'm a super duper Raymond Lam fan. He is awesome. Today (in China it should be the 8th) is his birthday and I want to wish him a wonderful birthday even though he has to work. Raymond Lam will celebrate his birthday on 8th December and as he has to fly out to Canada to film for "The Drive of Life" on the 6th, his Hong Kong and Taiwanese fans held a special party for him yesterday, where they presented him with a cake and flowers and various gifts before singing Happy Birthday to him, whilst Ray conducted them. His fan club had also recorded some clips of well wishes from his friends in the industry, including Ron Ng, Sunny Chan and Virginia Lok.

Raymond has already had two birthday celebrations before this - the first was when his manager tricked him to a business dinner that turned out to be a celebration with 20 friends from within and outside the industry, that was a great surprise. The other time was a celebration held with his Shanghai and mainland fans. He says: "Last year, the mainland fans came to Hong Kong especially to celebrate with me, so this year, as I was filming in Shanghai, I took the chance to meet them so they did not have to make another trip. (Have you received any special gifts?) I only arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, then I had this party today, so I have not had a chance to open them and take a look, but I have brought them all back with me. (What would you most like to receive?) I have already received this and that is everyone's thoughts."

As for his birthday wish, he says he has already received a reward from his career and that was to win the Favourite TV Actor award at this year's Annual Artiste Awards. He says: "Thank you to everyone who voted for me and supported me. As I did not have many series aired this year and have been busy filming all year, then there will be more of me on the screen next year and I hope that I can fight for this award again then." On a personal note, he hopes that he can have a week's vacation to let his brain rest. He says: "The changes to my role in 'Drive' is very big and it is making me a little bit schizophrenic, especially as the pressure is heightened with it being a country-wide project." He hopes that when filming is completed in April, he can have time to learn to dance and follow the advice of his seniors because dancing can help develop your body language as well as being good exercise to stay healthy. Talking of having a 'white birthday' in Canada, he thinks he will be celebrating at Gigi Wong's home: "Working with her, she often makes us food and soup and share it with everyone. She makes a lot so we are worried about putting on some weight when we get back."

I just switched to the new Blogger Beta thing and they've got this Layout Widget that helps you change your blog layout and stuff with the HTML and CSS stuff. I still like the HTML better. I guess I'm used to it.

I decided go with green because green is my new favorite color, but its not permanent. My blog is going to be like a chamelon for awhile. The colors and layouts are going to be changed frequently until I'm satisfied.

For a girl who always wears the same jeans and screen tees every year, I cannot say I'm a fashion expert. But at least I can tell the drop-dead gorgeous from the ones that need to go home and change. I have to admit, this year is way better than last year. Hopefully the stars will realize they need help and hire a proper stylist.

First Impression: Face to Fate

At last, the day has come!! You have no idea how long I've waited for this. I heard Face to Fate is really good and of course it is, Raymond's in it.

Cast: Raymond Lam, Frankie Lam, Tavia Yeung, and Selena Li

Story:
n the WuXia World, everyone knows Kung Fu, and usually, there are three types of peple: The Good, The Bad and anyone else in Between. The Good people are usually call themselve as 正道, in F2F, they call themselves 白道 (The White Force), they are the ones who suppose to fight the evil and bring the justice to the people. The Bad people are usually the demons who call themselves as 邪道, in F2F, they call themselves as 黑道 (The Black Force), these are the people who wants to bring the darkness to the world. The two forces are always in a war, in F2F, they are having a battle called the Golden Seal Battle.

The evil ones will always try to destroy the world, and the good ones will always try to stop the evil ones. There are also someone in between, they are the ones retire from the WuXia World, or they just don't want to be involved. In F2F, Frankie Lam and Raymond Lam are these types of people, who do not want to be involved, but ending up helping the White Force.

In the White Force, there are always a lot groups of people, who knows different styles of Kung Fu. Each group is very proud of itself, that's why the White Force do not like to work together a lot, unless the world is ending soon. In the Black Force, there are usually just one group of demons who listen to one boss and try to destroy the world together.

Raymond Lam - Omg, omg!! He is so hot!! I can't help, but fall in love with the laid back, charming, temperamental Lai Yeuk-yee. I just love how he stands back and watches the chaos, until the very last minute he starts saving the day. That's like Junior Chai in the begining of LFD. He has this enjoy-life-while-you-can attitude.

Frankie Lam - How many times has Frankie portrayed the scholar, gentlemen type in TVB series? Too much to count, I guess, but its what he does best and I guess it just comes natural to him. I wish he'd step out of his comfort zone once in awhile and play a daring role or even an evil. Nah, I take that back. Frankie can never be evil.

Tavia Yeung - I have to say, I like the Tavia in A Pillowcase of Mysteries more. I don't know, there's just something about her. Perhaps she's too uptight and narrow-minded.

Selena Li - Haven't seen her yet, but I'm predicting she's going to be a polite nice girl. Hope she'll have good chemistry with Raymond.

Oh, wait here she comes(I'm watching FTF right now). She seems kind of cold and more uptight than Tavia. And here comes Raymond, flirting with her, but she of course, won't put up with it. Gosh, I'm so used to Selena being nice, this cold Selena scares me alittle.

What's Next?
Is Raymond evil? Why's he making a deal with an evil person? He can't be evil, he can't!!
Absolutely can't wait to see Ray with white hair and how his love story with Selena develops.

How I feel about TVB Anniversary

Around this time of year, the media is buzzing about the TVB Anniversary Awards and using this opportunity to create rivalries between the stars competing for an award. All the bloggers are posting their predictions and analyzing the awards. The fans are going nuts voting like crazy. And then there's people like me who don't really care.

I don't care because I dislike, aka hate, popularity awards. What I mean by popularity awards is the award shows that always give the favored and most popular star the award even though they suck.

Wait, I have to interrupt this paragraph with a disclaimer so I don't get beat up by fans.

Disclaimer: I am not in anyway hinting at or saying that the popular TVB stars suck, I'm just saying that there are too many underrated stars who don't get what they deserve and are always overshadowed by the popular ones. Don't hurt me.

For example American Idol, even though its based on viewers' votes.

Alright, I'm done with my hating. Oh, wait I have one more thing to say.

If Joe Ma or Toby Leung wins anything, I will cough up blood and stop watching TVB.

Their supervisor(Shek Sau), mistakens them for a couple and signs them up for the insurance program. As they pretend to be a couple, they soon get to know eachother and falls in love. They decide to get married, but Keung does not show up on the wedding day. Their both hurt and have come to hate eachother. As they compete desperately, they break the rules of the insurance policies which can end their career. And then, Hei finds out that Keung has never stopped paying for the theirr "Love Insurance"...

Sunny Chan - The first series that I saw Sunny in was Just Love, and I didn't like it much. Then I hated him in Vegabond Vigilante cause he was so evil. I started to like him in War and Destiny, and now I think he's ok. What I like about him is he can pull off funny and evil really well. Plus he's so hot in here. With the glasses and the hair.

Melissa Ng - She always plays the same role and I'm getting quite tired of it. No wonder she doesn't get promoted as much. I think she should go for a more strong role. Or at least try different types of roles.

Kenneth - Alot of improvements from Kenneth. I want to see him win Most Improved at the TVB Anniversary, too bad Kevin's going to get it.

Cherrie - Ehh...she was ok.

Paul Chan - I have to say he's like the best dad ever. Or he acts like the best dad ever.

The Story:
It was pretty funny and going great until like the very end. It was around Sunny and Melissa's wedding that it got boring. I didn't really understand what they were fighting about and I didn't care either. I just wanted to get the series over with. Terrible ending too. All of a sudden they get back together and everything's all happily ever after.

C it or Skip it?
Watch it for the first half, than move on to other series. The other half is a waste of time.

Sunny-I didn't start liking him until War and Destiny which I'm still watching. Now I like him even more. I didn't know he can be funny and evil. Is it me or is Sunny so much hotter in here? I think its the glasses and the hair.

Melissa-Like Alice said, its her typical typical role in a typical modern series, but I think I like the tough, stubborn Melissa more than the caring clumsy Melissa in Fantasy Hotel, Into Thin Air, and La Femme Desperado.

Kenneth-Kenneth looks hot in here. I think its the freelance player look of his. He's a "bird without feet" this time. Which is good. At least he's not the same old serious guy from ITA and LFD.

Cherrie Kong-I thought she was alittle annoying in the beginning, but I think she's ok now. Looks very good with Kenneth.

Supporting Characters-I haven't seen Rain and Paul Chan for so long. I like them both and I'm glad to see them back. Shek Sau is awesome, evil or funy, he's cool.

Story-I thought it would be boring, but its actually funny. Strangely I'm enjoying it. A very lighthearted series. Its my break from too much drama.

I always liked FIR. Their like a rock/pop group that consists of 3 members, Faye(lead singer), Ian(guitarrist), and Real(guitarrist). Taken from their new album, Flight Tribe, it features Leann Rimes which shocked me, when I heard it. What was Leann Rimes doing with FIR? Then I learned that they looped her in and their song, Everyday and Night, was mixed with Leann Rimes's "How Do I Live". Which I thought is pretty cool. Enjoy!!

Fighting the Rich Kid - Raymond Lam

There are two Raymond Lams.

One is in the eyes of men: annoying, playboy, rich kid, womaniser.

One is in the eyes of women: handsome, well-mannered, rich, suave, living off his own.

The same person gives two very different feelings to others. He has the genetics that can make women make him their Prince Charming and the credentials that other men despise. Fortunately this has not given him a split personality.

All His

Raymond's father Lin Huaguo is a real estate developer in the mainland, dubbed "Lee Ka Shing of Xiamen"; his grandfather Lin Mengfei is the Deputy Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and well respected.

With this family background, there is reason to believe that if he had insisted on studying Construction in America, he would have much fame and fortune and play an important part in upper class social circles. However, he chose to fall back into normal society and play minor parts in showbusiness for several years. Although Raymond has now found his own success, the media focus is always on his amazing background as they often refer to him as nothing more than a 'second generation rich kid'.

The words 'rich kid' is like an on/off switch. As soon as you mention it, then he will be lit up like a gas cooker and become more and more heated as he talks.

When the young master loses his temper, this is no small thing.

Fortunately, it is himself who has sworn to fight the rich kid.

Young Master ABC

In 1998, Raymond was studying in his first year at university in America and on his summer vacation in Hong Kong, he joined his father at a dinner party and a comment from a relative made him give up his studies in construction and join the artiste training class, starting his career as 'passerby ABC'.

With the thought of 'things are easy when you know people', many people think that Raymond's rise to notoriety was an easy one. With a rich father and rumours that he knows TVB board director Mrs Li, then surely just entering the class was a formality and he would be given lead roles on a plate as soon as he graduated?

Raymond brushes off these rumours: "My father only knew the artiste department manager Chan Koon Ming and in 1998, I had a meal with Mr Chan and my father. He just asked me whether I was interested in entering showbiz. All along, I did not know if I was suited to business and for him to ask me meant I had what it takes... at least I felt that way, so I decided to apply for the acting classes and right from the start, I did not depend on any help from anyone."

After graduating from the class, Raymond had several years of playing bit parts - in one scene he would be a general and then in the next, he was a corpse. However, not many people believe him. Even his colleagues and fellow artistes in TVB are suspicious of his words and it was only during the re-runs of "At the Threshold of an Era" last year, did Raymond prove his words as his Taiwanese prison guard role was aired for all to see.

"At the time, when people found out about my background, they would refer to me as 'young master' and someone once said very nastily that 'Raymond doesn't care for his wage'. That made me very unhappy and I don't really have a 'young master' temperament, I am just working at my job, so why do you have to call me that? Although many people still call me that name in the studios now, the feeling is very different and it has become more of a friendly nickname with a warmer attitude."

A Contract with his Father

Last year, Raymond announced that no matter how well he does in showbusiness, he will return to help his father in their business when he is 30 years old. He will return to normal life as a businessman. With three years to go, he reveals that there has been some changes to his agreement with his father and he no longer needs to keep this promise.

The Chinese have a saying, which is "The Son inherits the Father's Legacy" and in particular for families where the father has strived to build the business, then of course he would wish for his children and grandchildren to inherit his business and pass it down through the generations. Raymond is the eldest son in his family and his brother is 12 years younger than him and naturally, his father wishes for him to inherit the family business, but fortunately for us, Raymond's success in the entertainment business has for now given him a permit to continue.

When he first entered showbiz, Raymond made a promise to his father that when he reached the age of 30, he would return to help his father. However, with Raymond's great success in recent years, he has convinced his father of his determination in this career and that this is not just a stunt to show off, so his father has released him from his promise, allowing him to continue to pursue his career in the limelight.

Asked if he felt he could breathe a sigh of relief, Raymond thought for a while and replied: "A little!"

Raymond emphasised again that he has given more than other people, but this hard work is not to find great fame and fortune, but instead he has a very modest wish, which is to lose the title and image of 'rich kid'. However, people thought that his main aim of entering showbiz was to meet female celebrities. It did not help him that he was living in Dynasty Court and driving around in a Mercedes - luxuries that a normal artiste could never afford on their meagre salaries and as a result, he could not shake the 'rich kid' image at all.

You Can't Take it Away

Everyone has a weak spot and even rich and handsome Raymond is no exception. His weak spot is not the gossip, nor is it the rumours of his alleged cosmetic surgery. It is this branding of 'rich kid'. He can respond with ease to the questions about rumours, background and surgery, but as soon as you mention the words 'rich kid', then his young master temperament will surface with great vigour.

Since Raymond rose to popularity, he has had a constant stream of rumours, with Rain Li, Sonija Kwok and Sharon Chan all being dragged into the equation. Other stories have included being snapped at a club, suggestions of a nose job - asked how he responds to this, he says simply: "With so many stories, how many have been true? You say I have had a nose job, then you say I am womanising, but have you photographed me with a girl?" With that said, he gives a cool laugh.

When the words 'rich kid' are mentioned, Raymond immediately becomes angry: "I have to say that my family being rich does not mean that I am rich. There are many people in the industry who are richer than me, so why do you have to just talk about me? You can say that I don't need to give any money back to my family, but I still have to live, I have to eat, fill up my car, buy clothes. You can't expect a man in his twenties to keep asking his family for money. I really don't like people calling me a 'rich kid'. I am not working in showbiz for fun, if I was, then I would not find a job that only gives me two hours sleep in two days. Every time I film, I put my whole into it and since entering the industry, I have given more than double what other people have, even triple in some cases. I want to tell people that Raymond Lam is not messing about."

Only One Romance

Logically speaking, Raymond is tall and handsome and has popularity, so he should have a colourful love life to match, but Raymond indicates the he has only ever dated once and this was when he was studying in America. After entering showbiz, romance is out of the question because he has no time to date. Despite the rather cliched answer, for many women, this should be good news.

Not being an artiste and not being able to act, it is hard to disguise my surprise when I hear that Raymond has only ever dated once, so he takes the liberty to explain himself in more detail. "I know it is hard to believe, but I have honestly only dated once. When I was young, my family were very strict and would not let me go out to play with my friends outside of school. In the evenings after school, I had to go straight home and there would be a lot of questions if I was late home. I will tell you one more thing, I have never been camping in my life. Every time my friends arranged it, I was not allowed to go. As a result, the first time I dated a girl was when I was studying in America, but it only lasted for a year and most of the time we only communicated by post."

It is unbelievable when a man with credentials like Raymond tells you he has only ever had one date. If he was to start dating now, he would definitely not choose someone from showbiz circles: "If we were both from entertainment, then what she knows would be the same as what I know and there would be nothing to talk about. I hope that my girlfriend will be able to teach me and even if she is just a salesgirl, then she can teach me how to do sales and I can teach her to act. That way we will have endless conversation topics and will not get bored."

Negative Thoughts

We are bad for all these negative thoughts. In truth, when Raymond told me that he did not have a young master temper, I did doubt him.

Surely for someone who has had servants from the day he was born will not be able to fend for himself, no matter how much of a sincere person he is inside?

As Raymond left after getting changed, I planned the footnote picture with the photographer and after he heard my idea, he laughed: "You are so bad to think of that!"

A 'young master' with his manager and assistants by his side carries his own bags and things as he leaves as the three people beside him hold nothing.

Maybe, you will find Raymond's answers in this interview very boring or cliched, but in my opinion this is better than exaggerating everything, only for us to find out later that it is not true.

Aww. He's such a humble rich kid. I love that. His parents really taught him well.

I'm not sure if Steven's Diary is an actual series, but its produced by TVB so I'm going to review it anyways.

Stephen's Diary

Story:
Its a short documentary about the life of movie star Stephen Fung. Filled with unlucky and awkward situations in Stephen's life, its really funny and has alot of cameos of Hong Kong celebrities like Miriam Yeung, Soler, Gigi Leung, and Edmond Leung.

Stephen Fung
He is cocky, cheap, and selfish. I'm not sure if that's who he is in real life, but if it is he's got problems. And I'm the kind of person that takes pleasure in other's misery. So I find him a really funny person to watch. I'm not sure if its scripted, but I'm hoping its not. Although, I really doubt that. By the way, doesn't he look alot like Ekin Cheng? And I really like his dimples, so cute.

Favorite Guest Stars
Edmong Leung
Edmond plays himself, a movie star and singer. He is Stephen's friend and Stephen is looking for a female actress to be in his new music video. I liked his first appearance when Stephen invited him to dinner with his other friend and his other friend's wife is a really bad cook. Edmond was the only honest person and said the food was horrible and he didn't get beat up, but he had to stay and finish the food. Which is even worse.

Sam Lee
Again, he plays himself. His cameo was he's Stephen's friend and he asks Stephen to take care of his dog, Coffee, while he's on vacation, and Stephen lost the dog. Stephen finds another dog that looks like Coffee and returns him to Sam. Sam later shows up with both dogs and shows Stephen his injury from the fake Coffee's bite which is on his private part. Then he releases the dog on Stephen. Oh my gosh, that cracked me up big time.

Miriam Yeung
She's throwing a birthday party and Stephen is invited. He comes and talks to her. She says she can't drink alcohol because she just took some aspirin or something, but Stephen accidently put alcohol in her drink thinking its ice tea. Miriam faints and Stephen, realizing what he did, sneaks out of the party. Then she wakes up and says Stephen told her to hold on tight to a ball.

The Bad
Some of it was really boring and dumb. There were a few gags that I didn't understand and they didn't continue with it. I didn't like that there wasn't a real story to it. It was just a bunch of random everyday things.

The Best Part
The best part for me was the end. I'm not saying this to be mean, it really was the best because at the end they roll all the NG's which was way funnier than the actual series. It was mostly filled with Stephen laughing for no reason. Sometimes he would forget his lines and say something else stupid.

C it or Skip it?
Well, if you're just going to lay around watching TV anyways, you can give it a try. Its not a total waste of time. At least you can get a few laughs out of it.

Leila's New Song

Raymond Lam, Moses Chan and linda Chung were filming earlier for new series "Storm in a Pool" in a fire scene, which also involved a number of police cars, ambulances and fire engines in a very realistic scene. For Linda, this brought back some memories from the past: "This scene makes me think of a incident from when I was in Canada, a car suddenly exploded and burst into flames outside. At the time, I thought my parents were inside the car so I just cried and prayed. When I looked more closely I realised it was not my family inside the car, I breathed a sigh of relief, but it was still terrible." Aniticipations
I really like the crime-solving types of series and I've been a CSI fan since forever. When I heard about this series it looked really good and I just love Bobby Yeung. I'm even thinking of mayb becoming a pathologist, buton second thought.

Thoughts
Bobby as Sir Tim-His character is really different. He's not the funny or dorky type. This time he's smart and serious. I like the funny type more, but a change is good. Bobby is a great actor.

Frankie as Sam-I'm so used to Frankie playing the smart and talented type, but this time he has a bad past. He's supposed to be an ex-gangster and somehow I just can't picture the nice kind Frankie as a gangster. I like how he helps people and all that.

Yoyo as the tough and strict Madam-I'm not a fan of Yoyo, I think she's just ok so don't have much thoughts on her.

Linda as Ting-ting-She's so preppy and annoying this time. Totally different from her usually serious roles. Not sure how I feel about that. Will I like her? Will she make the series less enjoyable?

This one's alittle blurry. Ray is so hot with glasses, esp. the ones with thick frames. Not that Ray having wearing glasses is a good thing I just think its hot.

TVB new series "Storm in a Pool" filmed the grand opening scene yesterday and for Raymond Lam, who is just playing a guest role in the series, he was arranged to stand in the middle of the group, showing how important he was to the company and he thanked the producer directly for this.

When Moses Chan heard that Yoyo and Ekin may be dating, he immediately said: "They're not? (Do you feel that Yoyo has been very happy lately?) I have not seen her much recently, but she has always been like that and I know many of the Christians in the show have joined to go wakeboarding and to play sports, so there should be nothing there. (Do you feel they match each other?) It is just gossip! (Would you be happy for them?) If Yoyo is not saying anything, then how can I speak? I have already said a lot and I don't want to respond to everything."

That's so cool that Ray is so important to them, but he better be, after all the work they put him through.
The reporters are so annoying. Bothering Yoyo's colleagues to get info on her and Ekin. I really doubt they are dating, but they do make a cute couple. Hope the reporters will leave them alone. Storm in a Pool? What kind of a title is that? Makes no sense to me.

Yoyo Mung kisses Raymond Lam

Raymond Lam and Yoyo Mung were filming for Lau Ka Ho's new series last night at Wanchai. Raymond reveals that he hasn't slept for the last 40 hours, so he felt rather tired while doing the kissing scene. He says: "I needed to eat some mints to refresh myself and clean my mouth. This is for Yoyo's own good and I myself can't stand bad breath too." However Yoyo said that she wasn't professional enough. She only knew about the need to film this scene in the morning so she did not do any preparations beforehand.

The series plot talks about Yoyo being a third wheel in Linda Chung and Raymond's relationship. But in reality, she said she would not take the initiative to kiss a guy. The most she would do is to reveal her feelings to him and would not be a third wheel. Raymond said that once a girl has made the first move to him. He laughs: "This is normal especially when you're in the entertainment circle. You need to depend on your looks to be successful."

Why does TVB insist on pairing Raymond with older women? Did they run out of younger actresses? Yoyo and Raymond is just weird. The kiss looks weird too. Raymond and Linda is much cuter.
There's alot of kissing in this series. How lucky(I mean the girls). I really wanna see the end product, but I have to wait a thousand years before it comes out in Viet.
My heart aches for my poor Raymond. 40 hours without sleep?!! I blame this on TVB. They're overworking him. Hang in there Ray.

Story:

The Good…
Myolie Wu-Myolie was very cute in here, but I think her character is just an average leading role. You know, the "underdog" that works hard and becomes the "hero".

The themesong-very catchy and fitting to this series.

The Bad…
Sharon’s Character-How evil is she? I hate how she sets a trap for Myolie and then pretends she doesn’t know anything about it.

The Ugly…
Nothing too ugly here.

Y, Y, Y?
Sharon turning from bad to good-I know Kenneth’s car accident, probably changed her and everything, but I still think it happened to quickly. All of a sudden she’s forgiven and they’re all best friends. I don’t buy it.

Chemistry
Myolie + Tse Kwan Ho-Ehh, I think he looks better with Melissa.

Rain Li + Chris Lai-One word: cute!! I love how they fought and then helped each other out with modeling. I always like the "supporting couple". You know, the ones that always fight, but end up together.

Chris Lai + Myolie-They have a very good relationship as brother and sisters, and I like that. Makes me wish I’m closer to my brother...yeah, right.

Sharon + Kenneth-He’s just too good for her.

Fashion
I’ve got to admit, this series has the best fashions. Well, I guess it kinda has to. By the way, is it me or are the girls in here really tall and skinny? They should be models instead of designers.

Melissa-Being a model, she has to dress chic and modern, and she does, but why does she always wear a hat or bandana.

Myolie-She likes to wear these big poncho-like tops, I guess they were “in” then. Not bad, but I wonder why she always has this thing on her wrist. At first I thought it was a scrungie, but I guess not.

Sharon-She likes to wear these long, tight-around-the-waist tops. It works for her cause she’s really skinny.

Rain-I like her wardrobe the best, very fun and flirty. I also like it when she wears her hair in 2 buns with a pink headband.

And the Oscar goes to…
Sorry, but I don’t think anyone of the cast deserve an Oscar.

Characters
Nick Yau-A tough and cold, but sometimes caring fashion designer. He has very high expectations on the new designers at Nee, especially his mentor's grand daughter, Michelle. I think his character is very boring. I'm so sick of the smart and respected type.

Michelle Ku-She started out as a carefree girl who doesn't know what to do with her life. Then she meets Phoebe and Ella, new designers, and becomes great friends. Seeing them design clothes, makes her want to become a designer too. Even though she has absolutely no experience with designing, Michelle is determined to be a fashion designer and tries very hard to overcome the obstacles in the fashion industry, with the help of her mentor, Nick, and her friends.
I like that she's hard working and helpful to others.

Ella Kwan-A talented designer, but she's always bitter and jealous of Michelle because she thinks Michelle's success is from luck, and she's better than Michelle. Ella tries to trick and set Michelle up the whole time while pretending to be her friend.
I didn't like Sharon before, and now I dislike her even more. She's just plain evil in here.

Phoebe Lui-She's not as talented or serious about designing as Ella, but she's alot nicer.
She has a very bubblly personality which makes her very cute. I love how she sings when she's nervous. I also love how she fights with Chris Lai.

Elaine Poon-A model and Nick's girlfriend of 10 years. After meeting Michelle, Elaine feels that Nick doesn't love her as much as before and their love has long faded. So she decides to break up with him, and her long time friend, Mario, comes to woo her.
I feel bad for her because all of a suddenly her boyfriend got stolen and she wasted 10 yaears with him.

Cons About Going Back to School

10.Cafeteria food-Most of the time its disgusting, but sometimes they have orange chicken. Which is pretty good. I wonder if they got it at Panda Express. I know they get pizza from Pizza Hut. The side dishes are good tho.

9.Tests-Barf. I'm not talking about the tests the teachers make up, I'm talking about those long boring tests that the school district makes you take. They're easy, but really time consuming. You have to sit in class for hours and there are lots of them too. They come one after another and it drives me nuts.

8.Walking home-Ok, its only 3 blocks, but I'd rather get a ride. Unfortuanately my parents have to work so I have to walk. But I'm always scared of forgetting my keys.

7.Rules-Yuck. Never liked them, but I always follow them. Can you believe I've never gotten detention before. Yep, I'm a goody-tussues(it that how you spell it?). Bite me.

6.Thinking-It hurts my brain. I don't wanna think.

5.Mean Teachers-Ick. I hate it when others are being loud and the whole class gets punished. So unfair. I'm innocent I tell ya. Innocent.

4.Drama-I rarely hardly ever ever fight with my friends, but sometimes my friend fights with my other friend and I'm stuck in between.

I'm so sorry I haven't been updating and I don't have an excuse for it except that I'm super lazy. You guys must've thought I disappeared or something. Please forgive and forget.

Well, its almost the end of August and that means back to school. I will be starting 8th grade on the 30th so that leaves me with 9 days of freedom left. Actually, I'm kinda glad school is starting. Really miss my friends and stuff. I think 8th grade is going to be fun. But then again, its school.

Here's my lame-excuse for an update, a list of 10 Pros About Going Back to School. Cons will come tomorrow.

Pros
10. Nice Teachers-My teachers are always nice to me. Mostly because I do my work and don't fool around. Yep, I'm a total teacher's pet and I'm proud of it.

9. Learning-Not very fond of it, but the more I know, the better right.

8. Getting 8th grade over with/Leaving junior high-Its not like my school is terrible, but I jsut want to move on to high school. It looks more fun and exciting.

7.Field Trips-I don't always like where we go, but at least I don't have to go to class. Plus, the art classes get to go to themeparks.

6.Not being bored-Like I've been all summer. I really hate having nothing to do. It makes me feel so useless. You can say I'm a workaholic, but at least I don't procrastinate. Well, not alot.

5.Helping make the yearbook-I've always been very creative. It is going to be my last year so I like to put a touch of good memories to it.

4.Drama-You guys know I love drama. Especially when it has nothing to do with me. I jsut stand on the sidlines and laugh as my friend suffer from their boyfriend/girlfriend issues. After I had a good laugh, I'd play a therapist and give them advice. Not good advice.

3.Friends-Yay!! I really really miss my friends.*

1.FRIENDS-My cozy circle of friends. You can't live without them and you can't live with them.

I've been watching a series call Sound of Colors starring Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo. Its a Taiwan series, an adaption of Jimmy Lin's comic book. Its about a blind girl and a cartoon artist who has leukemia. Yes, its a tearjerker, but it didn't jerk my tears.

I found this series super boring and totally predictable. From the beginning to the end I just knew what was going to happen, but one thing did surprise me. Why on earth did Wallace live and then end up dying again? That's so stupid. He could've just died, give his corneas (I think that's what they call them) to Ruby, and end the series already. But no, they have to let him survive, patch things up with his father, and then die. What a complete waste of time.

Despite the horrible story, Ruby Lin did very well as a blind girl. Wallace was ok. They're chemistry was average.

At first, I loved the themesongs of this series. Its "Listen With Your Heart" by Van Fan and "In Your Eyes" by Rebecca Hsu. But then they had to go and abuse it. They play it all the time. She walks past him, its playing, they're talking to eachother; its playing, she's just sitting there and its playing. I was going to kill myself if I hear it one more time.

Don't ask me why I finished watching it, cause I really don't know. I guess I had nothng better to do.

Testing Colors

Due to the new layout and white background my bright colors cannot be read easily, so I have to test some colors out to see if they look good.

For my normal text, I've decided to use this blue(0099ff). Its not much different from the old blue I used, but its a little darker.

For my personal thoughts I usually use bright green, so I've switched to a darker green(#00cc00).

For posting news or anything that isn't originally written by me I'll use this purple(9966ff).

Tell me if you hate it or can't read it. Be blunt like Metal.

Cast: Melissa Ng, Sheren Tang, Raymond Lam, Michael Tse, Kate Tsui, and Kenneth Ma

Story:
This series is mostly about the hardships of women juggling business and family. Whether you're a traditional housewife or a hardworking career woman, its a hardnut life. Especially when your divorced and trying to hide it from your very conservative family like Ling Ko(Melissa Ng) plus a "Devil Woman" as boss for bonus. The "Devil Woman" AKA Hilda(Sheren Tang) has her own problems, trying to defeat a rival in the company and have a baby by sperm donation.

The Good:
Sheren Tang-The perfect woman to play a smart tough cookie like Hilda. I love her performance as always. Why didn't she win Best Actress?

Raymond Lam/Siu Chai-His character is so sweet and considerate. I love how he tries to understand how Melissa felt when being yelled at and wrongly accused. That's so sweet. I didn't like when he was so cold to Melissa, trying to beat Michael Tse. But he was awesome in the beginning. Of course Ray did an excellent job, as always.

Melissa Ng-Alot of improvement from Melissa. Good crying skills.

The Bad:
Kate Tsui-She's not bad for a newbie, but not great either. I really don't have any other series to compare with. O and I hated her haircut. It made her so ugly. If she left the bangs out it would've been ok, I think. I really wonder how she won Miss HK cause she's not pretty in here.

Michael Tse-He was very wicked and cheap in the beginning, but more likeable in the end.

The Ugly:
Nothing ugly in this series except for Kate's hair and some of Cindy's skirts.

Chemistry:
Ray and Melissa-They weren't bad at all. I thought it was very cute and altho they had many obstacles, as long as they love eachother, it all worked out.

Sheren and Michael-The love and hate relationship. They are the same type of person, scheming and selfish, but just wants to be loved.

Kate and Kenneth-Kate is very independant, but Kenneth is very controlling. In the end Kate managed to change Kenneth's way of thinking.

Fashion:
I love all the outfits Melissa and Sheren wore. Melissa's style is conservative, but modern and Sheren's is more chic and sophisticated. Cindy Au always wore skirts and that kinda annoyed me. Does she have nothing else?

And the Oscar goes to...
Best Actress-Sheren Tang. What more can I say?
Best Actor-Ummm. Ray for sure.
Best Supporting Actress-Melissa, but I don't think she's really supporting.
Best Supporting Actor-Michael Tse and Kenneth Ma.
Most Improved-Melissa.

C it or Skip it?
This is the series to watch of 2006. Women especially should watch it, and men who don't appreciate women should watch it too.

The Big One is Foiled

I think the readers in America or England have probably heard of the terrorist attack that never was. Well, here are the details.

Early morning yesterday, the British police captured 24 muslim criminals in London who planned to bomb 10 American jets flying to Washington, New York, and California. They're weapon, a liquid explosive dyed red and disguised as a sports drink. The detonator is a disposal camera with the flashlight taken out of it. Being normal everyday things is what makes it so easy to sneak through security. Luckily the British had an informant about the conspiracy and stopped it from carrying out. But there are still 5 suspects on the loose who may be the ring leaders.

Now, the security at airports in the US and England are very tight. There are longer lines there than at Disneyland. Everyone boarding the planes are not allowed to carry on liquids of any kind including water, lotion, gel, shampoo, or mouthwash with the exception of baby formula and prescriptions. They are to either throw it out or put it in their check-in luggage.

All I ask is why. Why do they have to take their anger out on innocent civilians? Its our government's fault and besides they started it first. Just let it go. How many more blood and tears do they want shed? Sheesh.
The authorities better stay on top of things like this because I don't think the Iraqis will quit any time soon. It's not that I have anything against them, its the criminals that want to harm us that I hate.
Right now I'm just thankful that the British was able to stop disaster from striking and hoping that the other 5 will be captured soon. Also very glad I'm not traveling by plane anywhere.

Yesterday, TVB's forty-episode series had its praying ceremony. The two leading ladies, Yoyo Mung and Tavia Yeung, were both born in August and the crew especially called a celebration for them, even getting the two male leads, Raymond Lam and Bosco Wong to give them a birthday kiss. But Raymond and Bosco would rather kiss each other, playing brokeback, than to kiss the girls.

TVB Lau Ka Ho's forty-episode series gathered a group of young actors, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Moses Chan, Tavia Yeung, Yoyo Mung, Linda Chung and Fala Chen. Yesterday, the cast had a praying ceremony at TVB City in Tseung Kwan O, and especially arranged birthday cakes for the August birthday girls, Yoyo Mung and Tavia Yeung.

After singing happy birthday, Raymond and Bosco were made to kiss the two birthday girls, but the two wriggled about and wouldn't kiss them. Afterwards, Raymond and Bosco even hugged each other and kissed, playing brokeback and embarrassing Yoyo and Tavia.

Whoa! Ray has a new Brokeback partner, replacing Ron with Bosco. Why Ray, why? Is there not enough girls fighting for you, now the guys are after you too.
I like Bosco's hair and he looks good with glasses.
Happy Birthday to the two ladies!!! Its also, my friend's birthday. Aug. 10th. If you're reading this, Happy Birthday Alex!! But she doesn't go here.
Can't wait for more news on the new series, but Ray's only guest-starring. Aww.
I hear Face to Fate is going to be released overseas at the end of Aug. Yay!!! Ray with white hair!

Raymond Lam appeared as a Prince Charming at the 4th Duet Singing Contest in Xiamen earlier for the opening and as a guest performer, singing a song entitled "Meeting in Xiamen". This contest is the biggest duet competition in the world and even Chairman Hu has sent his best wishes for the event. Raymond is honoured to be invited to take part and said happily: "I feel a great honour to have this opportunity because all the contestants are winners in their own right, so I am quite nervous."

Although there were many great singers at the competition, totalling 400 acts from 80 different countries all around the world, Raymond's performance was great too and he received rousing applause from the audience. As his song is not a pop song and is a rather classical piece, there was a level of difficulty for him, but as Raymond has studied vocal pitch and has a musical background, he even won the praise of Xiamen's mayor for his performance. When Raymond was asked if he is happy with his performance, he said modestly: "Not really, I felt that I could have been even better because I have only rehearsed it properly a few times because I have only just returned from filming in Shanghai. I really was quite nervous because as well as many professional winning singers present, I am back in my own city, so I am taking this event very seriously." As this was a live broadcast event, many people were able to tune in and watch the show, so no wonder that Raymond was quite nervous. After the performance, he breathed a huge sigh of relief.

The organisers invited Raymond to perform at this show because they liked his appearance in a special show for his former school and they felt he had a very healthy image. During rehearsals, many people asked for Raymond's autograph and to have their photographs taken. As Raymond hails from Xiamen, he felt like he was returning home with glory. Raymond's mother even made him some special soup to help keep his throat in top condition. His parents and many relatives and friends still live in Xiamen as well as many of his fans, who went to the airport to meet him and present him with flowers and gifts. Raymond could not stay for too long though as he had to return to Hong Kong to film for Lau Ka Ho's new series.

I did my best with the translation. It sounds alot better in Viet:

"Dung nguoi khong nghi, nghi nguoi khong dung."

Which translates word for word as:

"Use person/people no/don't suspect, suspect person/people no/don't use."

I chose this quote because I think its very important. Having no one believe you is really sad and hurtful. Plus I really liked that Sheung Ching-Tong(the Chief) in Safe Guards kept using that phrase when others were suspecting Chi(Steven Ma).

Raymond Lam Not Even Worried About TVB Signing with Mike He

There was a report earlier about Taiwan artist Mike He signing with TVB, leaving Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, Kevin Cheng, and Bosco Wong feeling threatened. At a function with Sharon Chan yesterday, relaxed Raymond said, "I won't have any pressure because of that. TVB signs new artists each year. I have cooperated with many TVB artists and many of the newcomers are very good. Besides, Taiwan and Hong Kong are different because even our series are different from each other. It's not a bad idea to bring new elements over." Sharon joked, "Who is Mike He? Is he handsome? Maybe this handsome guy isn't as handsome as my brother (Raymond) !"

Review: Bar Benders

I finished Bar Benders yesterday and here's a review. I thought it was kinda short tho.

Title: Bar Benders
Episodes: 20
Cast: Adam Cheng, Louisa So, Leila Tong, Sammul Chan

Story:
Tseung Man-To(Adam)is a very successful, but greedy lawyer. He just cares about winning instead of justice. Then he runs into some some trouble with the lay and has to do community service. There he meets Chong Hiu Wai(Louisa), a kindhearted something(I totally forgot what she does) at the Legal Aid Department who is also best friend to his daughter, Ting-Ting(Leila), also a lawyer. He and his daughter are on bad terms due to his negligence when she was young. So he tries to win her back by doing good things. Ting-Ting runs into a hot-headed, but righteous van driver name Shun(Sam) and become friends.

The Good:
Leila Tong-My angel!! Love her character and she was great at being mature
and serious.
Adam Cheng-Very funny character. I liked how he changed from good to bad.
Sammul Chan-He is so hot as a gangster. Aslo, much improvement since TA. I really hope he does more series and try to stay away from the evil roles.
Louisa So- Such a kind character. (ok, I like the whole cast)
Cases-They're very touching and not at all boring.

The Bad:
Power Chan-Love the actor, hate the character. I much prefer him as the funny and smart guy in LWOLAP.

The Ugly:
I don't think anyone was ugly in here. Except the guy who played Rex, Leila's first boyfriend. He's so evil. First he cheats, then he causes a patient to become a vegetable and then he lies about it. I didn't like him as the evil great grandson in LWOLAP or that Japanese guy in VV. Why does he have to play evil roles all the time?

Chemistry:
Adam+Louisa-They're an OK couple, but I think he looks better with Anne.
Leila+Sam-How cute, but they didn't officially go out. I'll explain in the Y? Y? Y?
Leila+Power-Not alot of sparks there. I thought they're relationship was kinda boring. I mean, he's successful and smart, but they have totally different views about justice.

Fashion:
Leila-Her clothes were boring, but I guess its what a lawyer wears. I liked her clothes in Life Made Simple.
Sammul-His gangster look is so hot. The hightlights in his hair adds to it, also. I really like it when he dresses up w/a blazer, T-shirt, and some jeans.
Angela Tong-Yes, she's in this series playing a supporting role, but I think it was shot before she became popular. I rather like her sophisticated look. She looks good with glasses.

Y? Y? Y?
Why can't Sammul and Leila officially get together? Sure, Leila has alot of baggage, but Sam has been waiting for her for so long. At least they were together on the plane and I can "assume" they end up together.

And the Oscar Goes to...
Best Actress-Its a tie between Leila and Louisa. I can't choose.
Best Actor-Of course, Adam, no doubt about it.
Best Supporting Actor-Power Chan. I want to give it to Sam, but he's not really supporting. I've always liked Power's acting.
Best Supporting Actress-Between Anne and Angela, its Anne.

Moral:
Sometimes there's a moral to a series and this one is to not be selfish or greedy. Justice is about fairness, not winning.

Leila has a very cute face and in order to look more mature for her serious roles, she decided to cut her hair.

Before:
I think she looks very pretty and elegant w/long hair.

The After:
Pretty cute w/short hair.

Modern Series:
She still had long hair in Aqua Heroes. She looks OK w/bangs.
She first cut her hair for The Last Breakthrough. I think she does look more serious.
In Life Made Simple she plays a very modern and high-fashion girl.
In Bar Benders she plays a serious lawyer.

Ancient Series:
Very simple in Twin of Brothers.

A circus acrobat in Ten Brothers
A bird w/magical powers in The Legend of Love.

Overall, she her ancient look is pretty much the same. Her modern look changes to the type of character she plays.

Yesterday, our reporter learned that the Fourth International Singing Contest’s organization committee have already confirmed for Hong Kong artist, Raymond Lam, to sing the theme song “Meeting Xiamen” at the opening ceremony. At the event he will also work together with close to five hundred actors from the Xiamen Choir Group, the Xiamen Ai Yue Orchestra and the Xiamen Dance Theatre to perform a drama.

Raymond Lam’s characters in A Step into the Past, Twin of Brothers and other series have all left deep impressions upon the audience. He was a student of the Xiamen University and back then he was also the winner of Xiamen’s “Schools’ Top Ten Singers.” Raymond values this opportunity to perform very much and he specially flew to Shanghai to learn from treble singer Zhu Feng Bo and her husband and Shanghai Opera’s former chairman, Shi Hong E, training hard for his singing.

Accordingly, Raymond will be arriving in Xiamen at two o’clock on the 25th. Xiamen’s fans of Raymond’s will be able to receive him at the airport.

It was just a boring, normal, night. I was watching Shanghai Noon(starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson) on DVD when the electricity suddenly went out.

I am not afraid of the dark, but someone *cough*my brother*cough* in my family is. Then I remembered we had some candles lying around. We felt and bumped our way to the kitchen to get the lighter and the candles. Finally there was light.

Now the only thing left to do is wait and try to go to sleep. But it was way too hot. Here in Nevada, its ninety-something degrees at night. So I thought about the Amish people. The Amish are people who choose to live in the colonial times. That means no electricity, running water, or any modern 21st century stuff, not even clothes. Why would they do it? My guess is they want a simple life without having to worry about money or anything. You see, they grow crops and raise cattles for food and they build their own houses. Its hard labor, but they like it that way. Or perhaps it has something to do with their religion. Don't really know.

Why am I talking about Amish people? Don't worry, I'm not going Amish. I could never live with out my computer and TVB series. And especially without air conditioning. I was just bored.

After 3 hours, the electricity came back and I went to sleep. It was, after all, 12 pm. All I want to say now is "Bless you, Thomas Edison (guy who invented the lightbulb) and whoever invented the A/C."

Avril Lavigne is a blushing bride! The 21-year-old Canadian rocker wed Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley on Saturday.

The musical pair tied the knot in the exclusive area of Montecito, CA, near Santa Barbara, in front of nearly 100 guests. People magazine reports that the punk princess walked down the aisle with her father, JOHN, while the traditional "Wedding March" played.

This time, the only neckties were worn by the male guests. According to People, the fashion forward pop star, known for wearing ties and sneakers, reportedly looked fetching in a Vera Wang gown with a bouquet of white roses in her hands.

The Ontario, Canada natives, who have been dating since February 2004, were officially engaged last year, when Deryck proposed to Avril while she was finishing up the last leg of her "Bonez" tour in Europe.

Earlier reports had suggested the wedding would take place in late August, but media attention apparently spurred the couple to move up the date. Friends and family of the pair were reportedly notified days ago of the plan and were told to book their tickets immediately for Santa Barbara, where the Grammy® nominee and her punk rock groom bought a house together last year.

Raymond Speaks About Reporter Breaking Into Hotel Room

Raymond Lam Fung has always been under intense scrutiny by the paparazzi. Despite filming in Shanghai for the last half year, Raymond still could not escape the paparazzi. Last month in Shanghai, the paparazzi tried to break into Raymond's hotel room to take photos. But it turns out that the reporter broke into a crew member's room instead, making Raymond laugh.

Raymond joked that he is now like a native Shanghai boy, "At first, I was not used to the lifestyle in Shanghai. But now, my Shanghainese is quite proficient!"

"When I was filming 'New Breath of Love,' with Tammy Chen, I was originally sharing a room with a production crew member. However, there were a few scenes shot in the central city area, so to increase convenience, I stayed at a relative's house for a few days. However, the paparazzi thought I was still staying at the hotel. When the cleaning staff was cleaning the hotel room, a reporter broke inside and took some photos of the room. At that point, I was no longer staying at the hotel! I could only laugh after hearing about the incident."

"I knew that the paparazzi was following me around quite closely, but I could only let them do so! All the photos that they took were at work or when I'm eating lunch! I can't be too concerned about their behavior."

Hoping for a Long Vacation

Raymond has not had a vacation for 2 years and his biggest wish now is to have some free time off. However, his work schedule is filled until April 2007 and if he were to take a break, it would not be until the middle of next year.

In the new upcoming 40 episode series, Raymond will be acting as a lawyer. Wishing for a vacation, Raymond hopes that it will give him some free time to improve his acting and immerse into his roles better.

"Since I have been filming series back to back, especially while filming in Shanghai for 6 months, it has alienated me from the outside world. When I returned to Hong Kong, I couldn't remember the roads while driving. I felt that my [reactions] became slower. If I can take a vacation and recharge, taking in new experiences, perhaps it will increase my ability to portray characters better."

"If I were to portray a character similiar to my character in 'La Femme Desperado' again, perhaps I would be able to approach it from a different angle! Only new stimulus will lead to improvement!"

Music Album

Earlier Raymond was in Canada for a concert and the fans welcomed his performance immensely. "I have sang several theme songs in the past, so I am quite familiar with singing. I would love to release a music album, but that is dependent on [TVB's] plans. But I have continued to practice my singing skills, as I will often sing at fans' gatherings."

Omg. How could they juz break into someone's hotel room like that? If the reporter was in the US they would get sued. I would definitely sue them. But it was funny.
Is it me or is Ray too skinny. He really needs a vacation. Can't TVB give him a break?
It would be so great if Ray releases an album! He sings way better than the other TVB artists that have released an album *cough*Ron*cough* Sorry Ron fans.

As you all know, the multi-talented Raymond is not only a good actor, but also a great singer. He has a total of 9 songs, but no albums (cry). After many hours of downloading and uploading, I can finally present you with Ray's songs.
I don't know Chinese, and i believe some songs require the understanding of the lyrics to be completely enjoyed so you might not agree with my opinions. o and i may be alittle bias cuz i'm a huge ray fan.

Stolen Love- i love it!! it's... umm... how do i describe it? it's slow, but very good(well, of course, it's Ray) his voice in here is alittle higher. Check it our yourself. btw, its the background music.

Eternal Happiness- It's slow, but the beat is nice.

Survivor's Law- also a slow tune, but still good.

Twin of Brothers- at first i thought Ron sang this one it kinda sounded like him. i don't really like this one. don't know y. its ok i guess. it's very upbeat.

Lofty Water Verdant Bow- i like this one more than TOB. i also don't know y. i guess i like the tune more.

The Last Breakthrough- Love this one!! kinda bias cuz i loved the series, but all well. it's my blog.

Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion- this one really fits the series so i like it. i also loved the series.

The Bitter Bitten

Story:
Hill and Sing are rich guys who won’t settle down. After vacationing in the US their families force them to work for their companies. They end up in Panyu where Sing’s uncle runs a zoo. While they work in the zoo they run into Joey, an archeologist student, and her teacher. Joey and her teacher are searching for the long lost bronze head statues of China. Hill and Sing, wanting some adventure, joins them. Turns out the bronze heads are related to the Ten Tiger’s Treasure.
Sing also meets and falls in love with Dan Dan, an acrobat in the circus, but after many attempts to win her heart, Sing fails pitifully. Meanwhile, Joey suffers a heartbreak from her cheating boyfriend and later falls for Hill who likes Dan Dan.

The Good:
The Clues- Every clue was really hard to find and sometimes I didn’t understand how they figure out the riddles cause it had a lot to do with Chinese letters and symbols. But I have to hand it to the scriptwriters. How did they ever think of all those clues.

Shirley Yeung- She is so funny! I love her character. She did an excellent job. I’ve always liked Shirley’s acting, but TVB doesn’t promote her enough. I mean how could she not be included in the Lady in Red CD. Her theme song was excellent. I love it.

Michael Tong- Micheal has always played a supporting role and he’s quite good at it, but when given the chance he can be quite good at a leading role. He was very funny and portrayed his player role well. I love it when he fights with Shirley. They make a very funny couple.

The Zoo- I love that this series talks about the animals in the zoo and how they raise them. They are so cute! I love the white tigers the most.

The Action-When they’re in the cave with the gang members looking for the treasure, there was a lot of fighting. I love it.

The Bad:
Sing’s uncle-At first he was really nice, but when they found the treasure he was really greedy and even threatened to kill his best friend and savior, Hill’s grandpa. But in the end he took a bullet for the grandpa and became good again.

The Ugly:
Dan Dan’s brother-At first all he wanted was to be with Dan Dan (non-biological sis), but then he couldn’t have her and he wanted revenge and money. He was mad at Hill for stealing Dan Dan and he wants to kill him. In the end he fell of the bridge into an abyss, but he still tried to shoot Hill.

That Gang Leader (don’t know his name)- He was money hungry and evil. In the end he was buried with the treasure. I don’t like greedy people.

Fashion:
Shirley Yeung-I love all of Shirley’s outfits. They’re modern and chic. Very cool. I esp. like her camouflage outfits and her boots.

Linda Chung-Her clothes are simple and ok. I guess they do fit her character. Innocent and simple. But I really like her wedding dress. Better than Shirley’s .

And the Oscar Goes To…
Best Actor- Benny Chan and Micheal Tong. He did a good job as always and I have to say this is Micheal Tong’s breakthrough series.

Best Actress- Shirley Yeung. Funny and beautiful Shirley is definitely a winner here and the Miss HK pageant.

Best Chemistry-Shirley and Micheal. I love this couple. They fight, but its just tough love.

Best Supporting Character-Stephen Au. He is good at being evil. I also liked him in The Legend of Love. You know not a lot of people give credit to the evil role actors. It’s not as easy as it looks.

The Ending:
I loved it. After action-filled scenes in the cave, came very touching moments with the 2 couples. Then it’s the wedding! Very cute and sweet.

See it or Skip it:
If your looking for a series with a lot of comedy, this is the series for you. The story is great and I think you’ll like it.

Hill is the smart one. He's the one that figures out most of the clues. He has one weakness tho and it's his fear of heights.
I think Benny is a great actor. I'm glad he's back with TVB. I missed him for awhile.
Dan Dan is a innocent simple girl. She is poor and has to join the circus when she was small. She is an acrobat in Fei Sing, the circus at the zoo.
I think she is way too innocent. Her character is kind of weak to me. Linda should start playing more strong roles to stand out and become popular.

Sing is a player and best friends with Hill. He later meets Dan Dan and falls madly in love with her. He changes his ways and starts to be serious.
This is really Micheal Tong's first leading role and he did great. I find him very funny. esp. with Shirley.
Joey is an archeologist student. She had a boyfriend who cheats on her and she's heartbroken. On the outside she's a tough cookie, but on the inside she just wants to be loved.
I really started liking Shirley since Always Ready. I didn't know she can be so funny. She also sings well. I love the themesong!

It's Sunday! Wow last week went by fast. It's always puzzled me why Sunday is the start of the new week, but not Monday. Hmm. All well. They make the rules, I follow them.

Story:
Back in the ancient times of China people deliver supplies by horses and carts. There is a delivering bureau call Wui Yau. The Chief of the bureau is old and has to decide who to give the bureau to. He has four sons; Sheung Chung, Sheung Hau, Sheung Chi, and Sheung Yee.

Sheung Chung is not very smart or capable of handling the bureau. He always gets into trouble and Sheung Chi has to get him out of it.
Sheung Hau is the son of the 2nd wife and he’s rather, unfortunately he had an affair with a married woman and got her pregnant. Then he conspired to kill her husband so no one would know. Not only that, till the very end he wouldn’t admit he was wrong.
Sheung Chi is the smartest of all the brothers. He’s always the one solving all the obstacles of the bureau., but he is only and adopted son.
Sheung Yee has been studying overseas and knows nothing about the bureau .

Meanwhile the bureau faces problem after problem, but those problems also help the Chief decide who should get the keys.

The Good:
Steven Ma- He was excellent in this series. I just fell in love with his character. The way he solves all the obstacles and he does it in a very dramatic way. For example he either yells and give a good speech, cries (in a very touching way), or even burn the very important cargo.

Wayne Lai- His character was very annoying in the beginning because he was always mean to Steven and doesn’t appreciate all that he does for him. But after he almost had to die, he becomes a much better person. My favorite speech was when he handed over the keys to Steven.

The 3rd Uncle- The 3rd uncle is very smart, but also quite lazy. He doesn’t like to be bothered with the bureau’s problems and prefers to spend time playing with his birds or fishing. But he’s the one everyone goes to when they need help and eventually he comes through with a good plan. Although he always puts it in a riddle of some kind. I find him to be very funny and I love it when he fights with his wife.

The Chaos- Every time there is a problem it just grows and grows till there is a riot. I love all the excitement and suspense it creates. I’m always wondering “How are they going to get out of this?” or “What can possibly happen next?”. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and I just love that in a series.

The Bad:
Elaine Yiu- 2 words: Bad Acting (esp. crying). How did she become the lead actress? What were the producers thinking? Absolutely no chemistry with Steven Ma. But don’t skip the series cuz of her. Everyone else did a great job and the story is wonderful.

The Mother- She just annoys me. The promise she made Steven keep about taking the blame for Wayne was nerve racking, but I really started not liking her when she went on a hunger strike to get Wayne the keys and Steven had to beg her to eat (btw, the speech where he was crying and on his knees was awesome). After that she keeps whining and getting mad for no reason.

And The Ugly:
Sheung Hau- What he did was so wrong, but he doesn’t feel guilty at all. Then he puts up this act, like he’s innocent. But it doesn’t stop there, when his dad was dying, he cried and begged his dad for forgiveness just so he can get the keys. It was all fake. After that he started stirring up trouble for the bureau.

The 1st Uncle: The nosy , no life, jerk that has nothing else to do, but cause trouble for the bureau. He does it all out of jealousy that he didn’t get to become Chief. He thinks that he didn’t get it because he was born prematurely and his father thought he was not his biological father, but he fact he really wasn’t biological.

Fashion:
Steven Ma- I like all of his outfits esp. the blue one in the beginning mostly cuz I like blu and he looks great in it. All the other ones looked good too, but in the end he had this totally brown outfit. Uh-uh. Horrible. I would think that now that he’s richer he would have better clothing, but I guess not.

Elaine Yiu- In the beginning she was had this tattered green outfit that made her look really skinny, but I guess it sorta fit’s the character. After she marries Steven her outfit was way prettier and she wasn’t anorexic looking.

The End:
A very good ending. Like I said it was total chaos, but somehow they were able to get through it. But I found one unreasonable thing. Why did the 3rd uncle’s wife had to die? I know she sacrificed herself for the bureau, but she didn’t have to die. It was so sad. I guess it was for the 3rd uncle to grow up and stop being so lazy. Another thing that was kinda weird, they kept going “1 year later” “3 years later” “1 year late”. I was like ‘Omg. When’s it going to end?’’ I really liked that Steven took care of Shueng Hau’s child even tho he was so evil. That was really sweet. And he even treated him like his own. I also loved the part where they read the Chief’s will out loud mostly cuz I love to watch the villain’s downfall.

And the Oscar goes to…
Best Actor- Steven Ma. His crying, his speeches, his intense look. It was all awesome. My fav. Steven series for sure.

Best Supporting Actor- Wayne Lai. I have to admit, he is the best supporting actor in all of TVB. I’m just sad that he never gets a leading role. Wayne is definitely very versatile. He can be evil, dumb, pitiful, and smart all in one series.

MUST SEE!! If you don’t like Elaine, just ignore her. Don’t let her get in the way of a really good series. Do it for Steven or Wayne. You just have to see it.

Sheung Ching-Tong is the head chief. He's the one who has to decide which one of his four sons to give the keys to. He maybe old, but he can still tell the good sons from the bad. Sometimes he can be indecisive and grumpy, but he means well. Ching-Tong still loves all of his sons equally.
At first I didn't like him because he keeps blaming Chi and giving him hard tasks. But after he decided to fight instead of giving Cheung Fung to the bad guys, I started to like him. Sometimes he can be very funny.

Um.. I forgot his name, but I know he's the 3rd uncle (Ching-Tong's little brother). He is often a laid back guy who doesn't like to work, but he's very smart. Whenever Chi or Ching-Tong is in trouble they always come to him for help. He tends to help them in a riddle like kind of a way. Nothing he says really makes sense.
I find him very funny and different from his brothers. I like how he pokes fun at the others when they're in trouble and stuff.

I don't know her name, but she's the old lady. She only has one son, Chung, and she will do anything to protect him. Even going on a hunger strike to get the keys for him. In the end, Chi convinced her that if Chung becomes the chief he will probably end up in deep trouble and die.
I don't really like her cause she spoils Chung and she even asked Chi to take the blame for Chung if he gets in trouble.

He's the 1st uncle(older brother to Ching-Tong). Because when he was born his father got bad luck, he didn't receive the keys to the bureau, and he has always held a grudge. So he always stirrs up trouble and spread rumors.
Since he's the bad guy, I find him very annoying. Does he have nothing else to do, but start trouble. Sometimes I just want to beat him up.

Characters:

Sheung Chi is the most competent son out of the four. He is the only one who solves all the problems the bureau faces. Not only that, but he is very filial. That means good to his parents, biological or not. His mother asked him to protect his brother and take the blame for him when he's in trouble. Chi immediately agrees.
You just gotta love Chi. He's smart, filial, and humble. I say the Sheung's are lucky to have adopted him or else their bureau will be doomed. Steven Ma's acting was excellent in this series. I never really cared about him before, but now I absolutely love him. He sang the theme very well also.

Lei Cheung Fung is a poor girl who joined the bureau to make money for a better life. She wounds up in big trouble with some bandits and Chi saves her. To return the favor she becomes a maid for his mother. They soon fell in love and overcomes all obstacles to be together. Cheung Fung has been through alot of tragedies and setbacks, but she doesn't complain or anything. She just tries her best to make things better for everyone.
I personally don't really like Elaine Yiu(the actress). Her acting isn't really good esp. the crying. She also has absolutely no chemistry with Steven Ma. How she became the lead actress is a big mystery, but this is definitely a big casting mistake. Her character is quite weak I think. I think there should be a strong take-charge character to be with Chi.

Sheung Chung is a guy who likes to brag and be in charge, but he's a really bad leader. He's not really talented and gets in trouble all the time. Everytime he's in trouble, Chi always has to bail him out. Even so Chung is mean to Chi, blaming him for everything. Chung can't tell good people from bad and ends up listening to the evil ones. Later on he gets in life threatening trouble and realizes who are the ones that are good to him. After that he becomes a good guy and helps out Chi.
At first I didn't like Chung cause he's so ungrateful to Chi, but when he turns good I begin to like him more. Wayne Lai is a really good actor, but I don't know why TVB hasn't given him a lead role yet. He's always a supporting character, but he's really good at it. I esp. liked his acting when he was in deep trouble.

Sheung Hiu is the son of the 2nd wife and he's always been in the shadow of Chung. He's also quite smart so he would be a good choice to be the next Chief. Unfortuanately he had an affair with one of their employee's wife. Not only that, he got her pregnant and even killed the employee so others wouldn't know. His father was about to give the keys to him, but he found out about it and took it back. Hiu wanted revenge so he joined up his evil uncle to cause trouble for the bureau.
I don't like him (well of course, he's the evil character). Not only did he kill the employee, he never felt guilty about it. He wasn't ever sorry for what he did and thinks he's the rightful son to recieve the keys.

Sheung Yee has been studying abroad and knows nothing about the bureau. So he's not qualified to recieve to keys and he doesn't want it either. He only came back to see his father when he was about to die.
I don't really know much about him cuz he only appears at the few last episodes. His character is pretty small so I don't really have much to say about him. I have to say that his outfit with the long braid looks really weird.

TVB Series of the Week is a feature where I pick a series that I'm currently watching and I tell you what its about and my thoughts on it. This week's series is Safe Guards!

Synopsis:

Safe Guards is about a delivery bureau back in the ancient times of China. The Chief of the bureau is old now and he has to decide who to give the bureau keys to, Sheung Chung, Sheung Hiu, Sheung Chi, or Sheung Yee. Sheung Chung is an incompetent guy who doesn't know how to tell the difference between good and bad. Sheung Hiu is a talented guy, but he had an affair with one of their emloyee's wife and got in big trouble. Sheung Chi is a smart and fair guy. He always solves all the company's problems and he is the ideal guy to be the boss. The only problem is he's adopted. Shueng Yee is the youngest and he's always been studying abroad. He doesn't know anything about handling bureau. Who should he pick?

My Thoughts:

The last POTC was my favorite movie and now I think this one is going to be my new favorite movie. POTC 1 was funny, the plot was interesting, the special effects were really great. Its a fantastic movie. Johnny Depp portrays the witty and notorious Jack Sparrow perfectly and has lots of chemistry with Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. I haven't seen the second one yet, but I really can't wait till it comes out. If you haven't seen the first one(Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) go rent it on DVD.
